Longleaf Lumber MWPA Award

This past July, Longleaf Lumber joined the Maine Wood Products Association (MWPA) and Pride Manufacturing Co. in Waterville, Maine to accept the MWPA’s annual Pine Cone Award. We were treated to a fantastic celebration banquet and awards ceremony, with speeches and a tele-appearance by Senator King.

Longleaf Lumber MWPA Award RecipientEach year, the MWPA recognizes Maine wood manufacturing businesses for innovation and growth, in the understanding that these characteristics are critical to future success of local businesses, their employees, and communities. Longleaf is honored to have received the Pine Cone Award, which is given to smaller wood manufacturing companies.

Pride Manufacturing Company, LLC, a larger business known for producing Lincoln Logs and other small wood products, received their Pine Tree Award. The Waterville Elks Club banquet hall was filled with a delightful mixture of MWPA board members, business owners, and committed employees sharing industry stories and celebrating the continuing success of wood product manufacturing in the state.

Maine Senator Angus King videoconferenced in with kind words of appreciation and congratulations for the award winners. Guests toured the Pride Manufacturing facility in Burnham, Maine before the event.

MWPA Awards Banquet

Longleaf Lumber is proud to be recognized for our efforts to responsibly grow and innovate. Recent developments at our Berwick, Maine manufacturing facility include a new wood grinding system, a new combination warehouse and office building, and a soon-to-be-active photovoltaic solar array, enabling us to produce much of our electricity via on-site renewable generation. We are especially grateful to the federal government’s REAP program, which made financing our solar panels possible.

MWPA Awards RecipientsThis being said, the credit for our award is due almost entirely to our incredible Berwick, Maine manufacturing team. They made this award possible by working hard in hot summers, wet autumns, and cold winters, always with an eye for quality. They truly understand what it means for wood products to be ‘Made in Maine’.

Great thanks is also due to the Maine Wood Products Association and their board for the honor. See you next year?
