Douglas Fir V-Groove Paneling

Longleaf is currently milling antique Douglas fir beams salvaged from the Hingham Shipyard into v-groove paneling in 3/4” thickness and 4-1/2″ width. Although a few knots can be seen, the character of the paneling boards is primarily vertical grain and clear. The edges of the boards have been milled with a tongue and groove and sold unfinished.
 
The image at bottom below shows five different ways that we finished or stained our Douglas fir. The material in this bottom picture was milled with a simple square edge and is meant to show the variety of visual opportunities available. From top to bottom: Waterlox Tung Oil, Natural Satin Water-Based Polyurethane, Grey Custom Mixed Stain, Black “Fireside Ebony” Stain, White “SnowFall White” Stain. The stains are Vermont Natural Coatings’ All In One Water-Based Stain and Finish.
